The count of days
I
The Mayan Tzolk’in is a 260-day sacred count still kept by Maya day-keepers. To place your birth date in it we use the GMT correlation (584283) — the standard, widely-accepted anchor between the Maya Long Count and the Western calendar — and step the count by hand in code. That gives your Day Sign (one of twenty), your Galactic Tone (one of thirteen), and your Kin, a number from 1 to 260. You can check it yourself with the free calculator.
Your Day Sign and Tone together make one of 260 combinations, and each has its own reading in the tradition — its personality and themes, the challenge it carries and the remedy paired with it, the work it suits, the signs it runs easy with. We hold all 260 as fixed source material and hand yours to the writer as the content of the reading rather than as a hint. This is about two thirds of what you get, which is why the count comes first here.
The Western sky
II
Every placement comes from the Swiss Ephemeris — the same class of planetary-position engine used in professional astronomy — run in its analytic (Moshier) mode, which is arc-second accurate for any modern birth date. We don’t look your chart up in a table or a printed almanac; we calculate the position of each body for the exact minute and place you give us. Change the birth time by four minutes and the Rising sign can move — and our numbers move with it.
Computed, then written
III
The two skies are worked out entirely in code — nothing is guessed at, and no one hand-edits the arithmetic. What’s computed for you:
- Sun, Moon and the eight planets, to the arc-minute
- Your Rising sign, Midheaven and house cusps (when birth time is known)
- The aspects between planets, with orbs
- Elemental and modal balance across the chart
- Your Mayan Day Sign, Galactic Tone and Kin number
- The Moon's phase the night you were born
Only then is the reading written — curated content by our astrologist, following a fixed method: how the two skies are weighed, what a reading may say, and the voice it says it in. The reading is built from your computed chart and the relevant reference notes — never a free hand to invent. It can phrase what your chart says; it cannot add a placement your chart doesn’t have.
What we won’t do
IV
If you don’t know your birth time, there is no honest Rising sign and no houses — so we say so, plainly, instead of guessing. We describe tendencies, not fate: no predictions about health, death, money or dates that no chart can actually know. A reading is for reflection, not medical, legal or financial advice. When the data can’t support a claim, the reading leaves it out.
